Two members of the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) made the university proud when they were selected as recipients of two international scholarships to undergo two leadership programmes abroad.
Mr. Yuhan Satapo, a student of the Bachelor of Finance and Islamic Banking with Honours programme, received a scholarship from the Shibaura Institute of Technology to undergo a leadership programme in Japan. Only 15 students from across Asia have been offered this scholarship.
Meanwhile, Ms. Sitimariyae Waedueramae, also a student of the Bachelor of Finance and Islamic Banking with Honours programme, received the James A. Viehlan scholarship to attend the BGS Global Leadership Summit (BGS GLS) in Orlando, Florida, USA.
This scholarship, which is offered under the James Viehlan Foundation to BGS members worldwide (outside the United States), has made Ms. Sitimariyae one of its only two recipients worldwide.
The Dean of the Student Development and Alumni Office, College of Business (PPA COB), Dr. Hendrik Lamsali, said that both the scholarships were open to all undergraduates throughout the world and that the granting of the scholarships to two students of UUM was an unequivocal recognition of the newly established UUM Chapter of BGS.
